These are just links to websites that you find helpful to work with at home. Our favourites are marked with a ✪ . They are simply extra resources to use at home. Some of these websites may require FlashPlayer (especially for games) so may not work on tablets/phones and only on computers/laptops. However, there are plenty that can be accessed on all platforms.

ABC ya! – Educational games for JI – 6th Class.


Cookie – Colourful site with games for JI – 1st Class.


Word Family Sort – Exactly as it says. Perfect for infant classes but obviously needs adult support throughout.


Fun 4 the Brain – Started with just Maths, but now has games for English and Science too. JI – 2nd Class.


Learning Games for Kids – Nice games for 1st – 6th Class. Particularly nice for learning to type games.


PBS Kids – Great educational games for infant classes.


Sesame Street Games – Great educational games, stories and songs for infant classes.


Spelling City – Enter your words from Spellbound and play games using these words. Brilliant! ✪


Switch Zoo – Lovely animal learning website that starts with basics for infants but also has habitat and biome activities for older children.


Storyline Online – Fantastic story website featuring lots of big book videos read by authors/actors. Perfect for infants. ✪

www.sightwords.com – Resources and games for common sight words. JI – 2nd class.

https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/ – Amazing child-friendly encyclopedia website. Superb for projects. 1st – 6th Class. ✪

https://www.booktrust.org.uk/ – A great place for parents and older children to read reviews and pick books to buy/borrow.

https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/ – You will be very familiar with all the books here. They make up a lot of our school’s guided reading books. And at the moment, all the e-books are free to access via this website. Also has a range of other activities for Maths and Science but the readers are its main selling point. ✪ ✪ ✪

https://www.literacyshed.com/ – Brilliant for story starter videos and images. Also has thought provoking images and recommended activities based on these. ✪

http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/cube_creator/ – Really nice activities based around creating a story in cube form. Requires cubes to printed out to gain full effect. ✪

https://100wc.net/ – A great writing challenge perhaps aimed at 3rd class up. Each week there is a writing prompt – words, pictures, videos etc. and children are asked to write a piece of creative writing based on the prompt. They pick a selection of entries and display them on site.

http://robo.ie/ – Leathanach iontach chun Gaeilge a chleachtadh – labhairt, éisteacht, leitheoireacht agus scríobhneoireacht. Great page for practising Irish – speaking, listening, reading and writing all covered with great interactive elements. ✪ ✪

www.literactive.com – A phonics based reading program for early learners.  You need to register to use some resources. Just remember your log-in and password.
